Summary: D. V. Gundappa was a prolific writer for whom journalism was the life-mission. Through the newspapers and periodicals he himself edited and published, and through other avenues, he continually commented on political developments at the national and regional levels for almost seven decades, particularly upholding a Liberal, non-party and cultural viewpoint. His writings in English by far outnumbered his Kannada writings. While his writings in Kannada have been accessible, hardly any of his voluminous English writings have so far been anthologized. Selected Writings of D. V. Gundappa, the present multi-volume series, presents for the first time selections from Mr. Gundappa's journalistic, literary and cultural writings in English culled from archives, some dating back to the first quarter of twentieth century.
